Producing Conquering Lion Scotch whisky involves selecting and blending malt and grain whiskies from Scottish distilleries in the Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside, and Islay. Barley is malted, mashed, and fermented. The resulting mash is distilled in pot stills for malt whisky or column stills for grain whisky.
The spirits age for a minimum of three years in bourbon and Sherry oak casks, developing flavours, colour, and experiencing evaporation known as “the angel’s share.” Maturation varies based on temperature, humidity, and barrel conditions. Master blenders harmonise regional characteristics like depth, lightness, complexity, and peatiness, creating a consistent profile.
The blended whisky rests and marries in wood, and sometimes undergoes chill filtration for clarity. Finally, water is added to reach bottling strength, producing Conquering Lion Scotch whisky and bottled for yours truly!
